Priceless.
Officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department were dispatched to investigate reports of a suspicious person at the McDonalds located at 1963 Pleasant Hill Road, which is in the Duluth area of Gwinnett County.
As the officers were responding, information was relayed to them. They were first told that there was a drunken person in a car, and then informed the individual was armed with an assault rifle and asking for change for a $100.00. When officers arrived, the individual had already left the area.
McDonalds’ employees were able to give a detailed description of the offender and the vehicle. They also stated that the offender pulled up to the drive-through window and asked for change for a $100.00. When the employee opened the window, the employee saw an assault rifle across the lap of the offender. The offender saw this, and said it was O.K. because he was a police officer. Shortly after that, the driver either fell asleep or passed out behind the wheel, at which point 911 was called. The offender awoke, was upset at not getting change, and then left the area.
After obtaining statements, officers conducted an area check where they located the vehicle in the immediate area pulled off on the side of the road. Despite the number of officers and the activation of the emergency blue lights, the offender at first refused their verbal commands, acted as if he did not see the officers, and continued to stay in the car, reaching in the back seat. The offender finally complied and got out of the vehicle where he was taken into custody.
Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. When asked why he was parked on the side of the road, his response was unintelligible because of his slurred speech. A search of his car revealed an assault rifle, cocaine, marijuana, and various rounds of ammunition.
The offender was then transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center. During processing, deputy sheriff’s located a small baggy of a white chalky substance tucked in the offender’s shoes. A field test of this substance indicated cocaine, but final tests are still pending.
The offender has been identified as 24-year-old Mohammed Faizal Taki of Lawrenceville. Taki has been charged with the following offenses:
