The X Games could kill you .....
I suppose that you have to take it for granted that the annual X Games could lead to your ultimate demise. I mean, to get involved with this spectacle to begin with, I suppose that you have to have a screw loose .... or an intense desire to prove that you can pull off a stunt or trick better than your next closest competitor.
So I guess what my coworkers and I witnessed as we were munching on our Mexican dishes Friday afternoon didn't come as a complete surprise. But when you see a hit like the one Jake Brown absorbed and managed to walk away from, you just have to say, "Dang, that guy's lucky!"
For every great or near-perfect act executed by one of those high-flying types, there's at least one quick down-turn waiting to snag them ... It's just a matter of time I suppose.
Still, this does fall into my general philosophy of sports viewing. For those competitions and leagues that hold no interest for me on a routine basis, it can be interesting to see the best in the business take a shot at the top prize in their respective field.
I'll likely be catching more of these events (or at least the highlights) before the curtain falls.
