Missing in action?
Gee .... has it really been that long? Seems like only yesterday I was thinking about posting some great blog thing about what the heck has been going on ....
And now I'm something akin to a few weeks removed from it. I've either lost my motivation and/or became super slack and/or been way too busy with other "stuff" to keep up with it all. Much of my personal time has been eventful and entertaining, which could also have contributed to my seemingly "not having enough time."
Now the thought comes to me, and it goes a little something like this:
"Perhaps rather than simply wading back into the online stream of content overload with a really really specific post, I should just dump a big post about a lot of little do-dads ...."
And now, my dump:
Chicago: Getting it done one stop at a time ....
We recently undertook a brief return to the Windy City for a little r & r with a Cubs game and some time with family we haven't seen in a long time (too long, really). We managed to pack a whirlwind of sightseeing, baseball watching and overeating into an extended weekend, and it was all great.
During our stay, we made the rounds at the famous Field Museum near Soldier Field. We were able to see what was left of some renowned man-eating lions and Sue, the largest reassembling of a fossilized Trex.
And the Field Museum also had a small collection of the Mold-A-Rama machines. These fantastic little devices are really a miracle of modern souvenir technology. Here is how it works: push in your cash and watch as a special mold receives an injection of hot plastic, and then your toy is plopped out for your enjoyment. Watch one of the videos we made of the process:
North Georgia's finest
We recently learned that some friends of ours have, along with their family, moved to the North Georgia mountains to take over a wooded resort of sorts, thus fulfilling a long-time dream.
The property, now known as Tiger Creek Falls Inn, includes a number of nicely appointed rooms (some of which can be joined to form suites), complete with satellite TV and kitchens. There are also a couple of chalets, which feature separate bedrooms, living rooms and lofts.
The greatest attraction to the location, aside from the close proximity to the mountains, is the availability of two waterfalls on the inn's grounds. One of the falls is very close to the living arrangements and can be seen, heard and enjoyed without much of a walk.
We had the pleasure of spending the night at Tiger Creek Falls Inn, and we thoroughly enjoyed the natural surroundings, our friends and all the good times waiting to be had. Here are a few pics from the trip:
